We couldn’t wait to share our latest RV camping experience at Wright’s Farm in Gardiner, NY. We booked our spot through Harvest Host. The first night was free, and an additional night only cost $30.
Wright’s Farm offers a huge open space for campers. They host not only Harvest Host members but also visitors from other platforms like Hipcamp.
The campsite is set on higher ground, which makes it a perfect spot for stargazing. At night, we could see countless stars, many constellations, and even a glimpse of the Milky Way.
The farm is surrounded by apple trees. Since it’s apple-picking season, the place becomes lively and busy in the afternoons.
There’s also a lovely farm store. It’s filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, and homemade treats like pies and bread. What made us especially happy was that the store is dog-friendly

1. Activities close to the farm
- Shawangunk Grasslands
A quiet wildlife refuge, great for bird watching. Come early in the day for the best experience, otherwise you might leave disappointed. - Mohonk Preserve
We arrived around 3 pm and learned the tickets had sold out. If you’re visiting during peak season, make sure to book your tickets in advance. - Car Show
This wasn’t part of our plan, but it turned out to be a fun surprise. We saw nearly a hundred classic cars, from the 1920s to the 1980s. They were beautifully kept and full of character.
2. Restaurants
- Cafe Mio
A café we highly recommend. The homemade grass-fed beef hash was delicious, and the 9 oz burger might be one of the best we’ve ever had. - PBF Cafe Montgomery
Their fresh-squeezed orange juice is excellent. We visited on a busy Sunday morning, and since the car show was happening outside, the wait was long. But the food was worth it, and the atmosphere was cheerful.
Our next camping is coming soon – wondering what is the next stop? : )
